Is Shopify Dropshipping Worth It?

If you ask me which industry completely profited from the 2020 pandemic, it would be the eCommerce industry! Amazon, Shopify and all the other eCommerce related things took a big leap during this time.

There are also a lot of platforms that can be used to start a dropshipping store. However, people often have a doubt in choosing one and if Shopify dropshipping is the best way to go?

Yes, Shopify dropshipping is definitely worth it and I can’t see a better platform to recommend. It has a shallow learning curve, awesome themes, a feature-rich app store, highly scalable and a lot of other things which makes it the best platform for dropshipping and eCommerce businesses.

Some of the other platforms that can be used for dropshipping are Woocommerce, Wix and Ecwid. However, Shopify has a slight edge over all the others and let’s see how.

8 Reasons Why Shopify Dropshipping is Worth it

Below I’ll discuss some of the reasons why Dropshipping on Shopify is definitely worth it and why you should start a dropshipping store right away!

1. Easy to Use and Operate

Shopify is one of the easiest things to learn. It’s so beginner-friendly that you only need to spend like an hour or so going through the dashboard.

I’ve found other platforms like Woocommerce and Wix to be somewhat hard for a beginner to learn. They do have almost the same features but the layout of how they are arranged is quite difficult to get used to.

Shopify also has a very good reporting dashboard that displays almost everything that an eCommerce admin would want to know.

2. Excellent Choice of Themes

There are a lot of themes for Shopify. The catalog is just too big. The good news is that even though Shopify isn’t an open-source software, you can install 3rd party themes developed by different experts or companies.

However, Almost all themes are on the expensive side.

One of the best themes that I have tried and tested is the Debutify theme. It’s minimal and free. You will only need to upgrade if you want to use the extra features.

3. Site builder and Blogging

The site builder of Shopify is one of the best in the market. It’s a flexible drag and drop builder that can help you design a good-looking store.

You also have the ability to blog on Shopify. This is highly recommended if you’re building a long-term business. Since creating SEO-optimized articles can bring in a ton of potential customers to your site.

4. Shopify App Store is a Real Gem

The Shopify app store is one of the main reasons why you should start a dropshipping or eCommerce store on the platform.

They have thousands of different apps that can be integrated into your store to increase your sales, improve your average order value, and much more things.

If you want, you can check out this list of must-have apps for every dropshipping store.

5. Dropshipping Suppliers Integrations

There are a lot of dropshipping suppliers and all the big names that you see on the internet can be easily integrated into your Shopify store.

Integrating them makes it super easy to fulfil your orders and you won’t need to manually enter all the details on the supplier’s website.

6. Customer Support is Good

Shopify offers 24/7 customer support and it’s great. Other competitors like WooCommerce, don’t offer this as it is an open-source software.

If you fall into any issues or problems with your Shopify store, you can contact customer support with ease. However, there’s a high chance that most people won’t be falling into any issues unless they are selling some illegal stuff.

7. Huge Community

The Shopify dropshipping community is huge. There are a lot of experts. You can find them literally anywhere.

Just be careful because there are a lot of fake gurus out there. So, just don’t shill out your money if they are offering a course or a mentorship program. Always research and see if they are legit.

I am part of a dropshipping community on Whatsapp and that group is just amazing. If you can find such communities on social media, it would be a great help to you.

8. Scalable

Shopify is suitable for any type of business. If you are a beginner or even an expert with a lot of staff/employers, Shopify lets you scale your business.

It can easily handle a lot of customers at the same time and it won’t break your store.

2 Problems of Shopify Dropshipping

1. Pricing

Shopify starts at $29/month. This is not very expensive and is still affordable. But, if you compare it with Woocommerce, this might seem a bit on the expensive side.

For Woocommerce, you would need a hosting platform. I recommend EasyWP from Namecheap. They are so affordable at just around $3/month or just $22 for a whole year!

That’s quite cheap but you will miss out on some of Shopify’s exclusive features.

2. Shopify Apps can Be Expensive

There are a lot of apps on Shopify and some of which you would definitely need. And almost all the apps have a monthly pricing plan.

So, This means your monthly expenses will increase. On top of things like the Shopify plan, marketing costs, and product costs, you will also have to find a way to include the cost of your apps into your expenses list.

In the end, it’s your duty to make sure that you are running a profitable dropshipping website and that you are not losing money.
