Is Wix Worth It? Should You Pay for The Premium?

There are numerous website builders and content management systems on the internet. Some of them are WordPress, Wix, Squarespace etc.

WordPress is the most famous of them all and powers almost 35% of the Internet. But, that doesn’t mean Wix and other website builders are shit.

Platforms like Wix helps us with more customisation and other features that WordPress can’t provide.

But, is Wix Worth it? and should you pay for the premium?

Let’s Find out!

What is Wix?

Wix is a website builder and a content management system which allows you to design responsive webpages without coding and other technical knowledge.

Building websites is easy using Wix. They have an easy to use drag-and-drop builder which allows you to design a page in whatever way you want.

Moreover, they have hundreds of templates or themes that you can use if you are a bit lazy to design one on your own.

The main highlight of Wix is that it’s more than just a website builder. It has multiple features built-in them like email marketing tools, customer management, eCommerce, Videomaker, logo maker etc.

Why Wix? – Some Features!

Drag and Drop Website Builder

Wix features one of the best website builders you can ever ask for. You can design your website in any way you want. There’s no limit.

They have an app market which further helps you add more capabilities and functionalities to your website.

This website builder is the best for professional websites or businesses because you can literally design the website according to your needs.

Email Marketing Tools

Wix comes integrated with an email marketing tool from a company called Ascend. It provides almost everything that other popular marketing tools offers.

Automations, email marketing campaigns, marketing integrations are all included here. You also get a videomaker and a logomaker along with them. Videomaker can be used to promote your business by making a professional video.

Automations helps you automate your emails so that emails get sent to your prospects when a certain event happens.

There are hundreds of email templates to choose from. All of these look professional and are ready to use templates.

You can also integrate this with other online marketing tools like Mailchimp, Google Ads, Facebook Pixel etc which can help you market your brand or product effectively.

However, the email marketing tool is quite limited unless you pay an extra for it every month. But, you can do the basics like capturing emails, sending emails, etc on the free plan.

Membership Area

If your business wants to set up a membership portal where only the authorized users can view particular content, Wix might be the best one for you.

For example, if you have some premium content to offer like an online course. You could set up a membership area where only the paid customers may have access to that particular content.

Wix also offers multiple paid plans. This means you can set up multiple plans which offer different services or access to more premium content.

That is, you could limit access to some pages depending upon a customer’s plan.

This membership area is not something that every website builders give away. Many software like Clickfunnels, Kartra etc do have the same feature but charges around $97/month. I know these softwares are pretty much different from Wix.

But, who told you can’t build a sales funnel on Wix?

Online Store

Depending upon your business requirements you could also add an online store to your website. So, selling your products is much easier.

They also do provide integrations with some payment providers such as Paypal, Wix Payments etc so that you receive payments for every sale you make.

Take Online Bookings

Schedule private consultations, online bookings, Workshops etc if your business requires them.

For example, if you are a digital marketer and you offer consultancy services. You could easily schedule and do these services with the help of Wix.

Wix Chats

This is a way of keeping in touch with your customers online. It’s like a live chat where you can reply to messages send by people from your website.

This can become really essential when you have a particular service to offer and people are having doubts or queries about it.

You wouldn’t need it in the beginning but once your business start to gain momentum, it can be really useful.

Wix events

Planning on to conduct a meetup next week? Want to bring in more people to it? Wix events is the best one to go for.

It can help you receive payments for each ticket that you sell.

it’s not just meetups, it can be a party, a workshop etc, anything which involves a mass gathering.

Who Should Use Wix?

Wix is a great platform to start for small businesses. With all the features given above, you would surely know if Wix is the best one for you or not.

However, here are some businesses that can be started using Wix.

  • Consultancy services
  • eCommerce Store
  • Private consultations, classes, webinars etc
  • Membership based services
  • Selling your own online products like software, digital products, etc
  • Freelancers
  • A simple website for your offline business like restaurants, hotels etc.

I haven’t mentioned bloggers and affiliate marketers in the above list and that is because Wix is not the right platform for them.

Bloggers and affiliate marketers should probably use WordPress which is the best content management software you can find online and moreover powers almost 35% of all sites on the internet.

There are a few reasons why I recommend WordPress for bloggers. The first one is the speed. Wix offers a ton of customisation but that, of course, comes with a price. The speed of almost every website made with Wix is slow. This can have a great impact on SEO.

The second reason why I don’t recommend it to bloggers and affiliate marketers is because of its flexibility and ease-of-use factor. Anyone who has had used WordPress would definitely agree with the fact that it’s really easy to use and perfect for bloggers.

So, If you are planning to be a blogger check out this How-to guide to start.

Wix Pricing

Wix is a more than just a website builder and offers much more functionalities than any of its competitors.

Wix currently has 4 plans and starts at just $13/month. This is really cheap if you consider some of the features they provide and moreover you get a free domain for free.

Wix pricing

But, as I said, it all depends on your business. If you are planning to be a blogger or an affiliate marketer Wix is not the place for you. You should rather look for some other platforms like Bluehost which costs just $3.95/month.

P.S – For India, the pricing plans are very different. They only have one plan and it costs just $0.39/month. That’s C-R-A-Z-Y! You even get a free domain(.com included) for that price!

I have compared both Bluehost and Wix side-by-side. Take a look at it if you are confused which one to pick up.

Wix Vs Other Website Builders

Wix has a lot of competitors like Squarespace, WordPress, Weebly, Shopify etc. All these platforms are a great place to start your online business.

I have used both WordPress and Shopify and both of these serve different purposes. WordPress is the best when it comes to blogging and affiliate marketing while Shopify is best for its eCommerce capabilities.

However, I feel Wix is more feature-rich and definitely provides value for the money that you are paying, especially the Indian customers.

Is Wix Worth it? Should You Pay for the Premium?

Wix is definitely worth it. You get almost everything that you want for a price that doesn’t empty your pockets.

In the end, it all depends on what you intend to do with your website. If you want a professional website for your service-based business, a freelancing website, portfolio, membership-based website etc, Wix is the best platform to get for this price.

Hope I have helped you in choosing if Wix is worth the money for you! If you have any questions, feel free to write it down below.

Peace!
