Emails are the best way to keep in contact with a customer/person. Whether you are selling an affiliate product, some goods or even a weekly newsletter, sending an email is the preferred way.
But, building one is way harder than we think it is!
So, today in this tutorial I’ll explain how you can grow your email list with Instagram.
What is an Email List? And Why does every Business Need One?
An email list is a list of email addresses which are used by businesses for their marketing purposes. You probably might be in a lot of email list like Instagram, Facebook etc.
An email list is a must for many businesses. It’s the only way businesses can professionally contact a customer or a person.
Replace that email with your phone number, Would you give away that?
Of course not! That’s exactly why businesses ask for your emails rather than your mobile numbers.
How to grow An Email list With Instagram?
There are a lot of ways to grow an email list. Using Instagram is just one way. Instagram, as we all know, is one of the most used social media. The number of active users on these sites has been on the rise. So, it’s a great platform to start.
Let me explain how we will be collecting emails. First of all, we’ll need an email marketing tool to build a landing page and collect emails. I recommend Getresponse, It’s one of the best.
The second thing that we need is a Lead Magnet. It can be a free ebook, software, etc. This is used as an offer in exchange for their email address. Simply, asking a person to sign up for a newsletter won’t work unless you are a very popular brand.
So, you place the link to your landing page on your Instagram bio and use some skills to make people click on that link. If they are interested in the product that you are giving away for free, they will surely opt-in.
Let me break down all these steps even further.
Setting up The Email Marketing Tool
There are hundreds of email marketing tools available on the internet. I recommend Getresponse because they are cheap and has all the tools that a typical business would want.
The basic plan of Getresponse costs just $15/month and that would be perfect for now.
Selecting a Niche
A targeted email list is always better than a general one. A targeted list means that the people in your list are all interested in one topic/niche.
In order to do that, you need to select a niche. This will let you select a lead magnet in the next step and moreover start an Instagram page dedicated to that particular topic.
Your niche can be anything. Make sure that a lot of people are interested in that particular niche. Some examples would be fitness, make money online, fashion etc. If you want, you could also try to come up with a business name which can be useful when creating an Instagram account
Selecting a Lead Magnet
Once you select a niche, you will need to find a lead magnet so as to lure in customers into giving their email address.
A lead magnet can be anything like a PDF, ebook, software etc. You can build one yourself or you could find a PLR product on idplr.com.
The product that you select must, of course, be related to your niche.
Building Your Landing Page
A landing page is a one-page website which is used to collect emails. Getresponse allows you to build landing pages on their platform.
To build a landing page, click on “menu” and then landing pages. Then select “Create a page”.
You would be redirected to a page full of different landing page templates. You could select one from that or build one on your own.
The thing about landing pages is that it needs to be short, eye-catching and on-point. That way you could get a higher conversion rate.
And. of course, don’t forget to add in your lead magnet to the page.

You could also make a landing page like this one which I made myself. I know it’s a pretty simple page without any fancy items. That’s one of the reasons why I have a good conversion rate from this page.
Creating an Instagram Account
After you design your landing page, Go to Instagram and create an account. Name it something that closely relates your niche or you could name it as the business name that you selected above.
Upload a profile picture, which I recommend to be something like a logo. If you don’t know how to create one, there are many sellers on Fiverr who can design one for you for just $5.
The next thing would be the bio and the link. The description that you give on your bio is a real deal. You have to optimize it so as to bring in more clicks to your landing page. There’s also a place for you to add in your link to the landing page.
Here’s how you can craft some killer Instagram Bio for your page.
Once everything’s set up, You have to start creating content. Upload at least 1-2 photos or videos daily.
When starting an Instagram page, the only way to grow quickly (Without spending any money!) is the Follow-Unfollow method. Literally, every single Instagrammer started this way. So, There’s no shame in doing that. Think of it as a way to attract potential followers.
Follow at most 20-30 people an hour. If you start getting warnings from Instagram, reduce the amount accordingly. In every 3 or 4 days, Unfollow all those people you followed in the past. Make sure that you unfollow them periodically and don’t do it all at once.
When following, look for people who might be interested in your content. To find those people, go to big Instagram pages that are related to your niche and follow all the people who follow their page.
When you follow people, there’s a 90% chance that they will check out your Instagram profile. The next thing that they see would be your Bio. So, it needs to be powerful enough for them to click that link.
This is how you can drive traffic to your landing page and generate leads. However, don’t expect a lot of signups as soon as you start. It will take time and moreover, do not quit. Keep creating content and doing the follow-unfollow method.
You can scale this up and receive more signups. However, this requires you to invest some money.
Find medium to big influencers in your niche. Message them and let them know that you are interested in collaborating with them. Ask them the price for a post or a story or even just adding a link to their profile.
Tip – When searching and finding influencers, don’t just look for the amount followers. There are a lot of accounts with a large number of followers and lesser engagement. Engagement is when their post gets a considerable amount of likes and comments depending upon their followers count.
Collaborating with influencers can be done in 2 ways.
The first way is to pay for a post or a story and ask them to do a shout out to your page. This might bring in more followers but I believe the second way would be better to get in more leads.
The second way is to ask them to add your link in their bio and ask them to post a story persuading his followers to get the free product that you are giving away on your website/landing page. This can work a lot better and can bring in more leads.
After you have a big email list, start email automations or email campaigns. You could start promoting an affiliate product related to your niche and make money or you could even sell your own product.
Make sure that you know how to draft a proper email if you are trying to sell something. Gmail is really smart these days and there is a high chance that your email would be marked as spam, if you don’t do it the right way. It’s always better to test your mail before sending it out to your email list.
Instagram is something that’s never going to lose its trend, at least for 5 or 6 years. This might be the only cheapest option to drive in more traffic and leads to your website.
